NIH Announces
Funding of Electrogastrography Research

In a strong and decisive manner, the National
Institutes of Health or NIH, in response to requests from the
gastroenterological research community, has decided to fund
extensive studies into the motility of the gut, and in particular
gastric motility.
According to Dr. Koch, “This
represents a significant recognition of the role gastric motility
plays in health and disease. There are several research centers that
stand poised to initiate the next level of discovery of the role of
gastric motility in diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal
illness. There are already a number of protocols being proposed for
funding.”

This group of researches known as the Gastric Motility Consortium
plans to initiate studies using Electrogastrography to study
everything from food effects on gastric motility to how medications
affect the functioning of the stomach.
As a result of this interest,
3CPM has received a request for proposal for the provision of an
initial 5 new Research 101 machines. The significance of this
request is monumental. According to Mr. Babini, “ The initiation of
this level and depth of research in the field will continue to spawn
the next generation of researchers and an exponential growth of
interest in this area. 3CPM, as the only provider of
Electrogastrography equipment, is positioned to achieve a maximum
benefit from this renewed interest
