What is EGG - What does it do?

The Electrogastrogram (EGG)

The Electrogastrogram provides a non-invasive measurement of gastric electrical activity ranging from normal 3 cycle per minute(3CPM) to gastric dysrhythmias (bradygastria, tachygastria, mixed dysrhythmias)

  

Types of patients that would benefit from the procedure

 

Patients With:

  • Unexplained* nausea and vomiting

  • Unexplained* Dyspepsia (upper abdominal discomfort, bloating, distention, early satiety)

  • GERD plus(+) Dyspepsia symptoms

  • Gastroparesis

  • *Normal upper endoscopy, abdominal Ultrasound

Unexplained Nausea & Its Impact

Gastroenterologists frequently see patients with unexplained nausea and other vague dyspepsia symptoms. This is not surprising because functional dyspepsia affects almost 25% the population.
